We are always interested in getting in touch with other bilingual families.
|
|
|
Here we are talking about a Danish/German couple who have two sons, born in 1997 and 1999. They practise the one parent one language approach, which means that each parent speak their respective mother tongue with the kids. They live in Denmark, Frederiksberg, and you can contact them by clicking on their names.

What do you mean by approach?
There are various ways of educating your children bilingually, the two most often used being
-
One parent one language (OPOL), where each parent speaks their respective mother tongue with the kids, and
-
Minority language at home (mL@H), where the whole family speaks the "foreign" language at home,
And no, it´s not the webmaster of this site, who has invented those strange abbreviations. They are widely used in mailing lists and websites dealing with bilingual education. Have a look at the "other links" page of this site to find places where these issues are discussed in depth.

What do you do after you have received my "Entry"-mail?
I will send you a reply containing a little questionaire about the information on you and your familiy you want me to set up on the net.
And when I have got your reply, your entry will be put on the list.
Sometimes it may take a few weeks (or even months) until you get a response - I am doing this in my spare time, and I have got three little children...

Can I get my address deleted from the list again?

Do I really have to give you all that information about my family?
Well, there is certainly no point in having your entry on the list, if you don´t tell us your e-mail address, what year your kids were born, what languages you speak and where you live. The more of the requested information you give us, the more useful will the list be for all bilingual families who use it.

I know of a bilingual playgroup in my town. Do you want information about that?
Yes, please! I have started adding links with info on bilingual play groups where I hear of it, so I would be happy to hear form you!
